Statistics and achievements
The more you keep your journal, the more you get back. On the Profile tab you will find both Statistics and Achievements, which sum up your fishing.
Statistics
The statistics page (Profile → Statistics) brings together the figures from your catches and sessions:
- Number of sessions, species and catches, the total number of fish and how long you have been active.
- Records: heaviest catch, longest catch and most caught species.
The statistics are calculated from your whole journal, including what you have marked as private. Fish under one kilo are shown in grams, and heavier fish are shown in kilos, the same as elsewhere in the app.
TIP
The statistics are only as good as the data you enter. Fill in species, weight, length and place when you can, and the overview becomes much more useful.
The weather on your trips (premium)
With premium you get a weather analysis across your whole journal: which weather, which temperature and which air pressure give you the most fish per trip. Blank trips count in the average, so the figures are honest. If you have trips in both freshwater and the sea, the analysis can be filtered by water type.
The answer is shown in plain words at the top, and below it you switch between weather type, temperature and air pressure with the toggle. One breakdown is shown at a time, so the whole answer fits without scrolling.
The weather is saved automatically when you log sessions and catches in real time. If you log a trip afterwards, the weather is fetched from a weather history for that day and that place, and older trips in the journal are filled in the first time you open them. That way the analysis builds itself up as you use the app.
Your fishing year (premium)
The statistics page also shows a yearly summary: trips, fish, species and new species for each calendar year, together with the year's heaviest catch and the month that gave the most fish. If you have logged several years, you can flick between them and see how things develop season by season.
Analysis by species (premium)
Every fish species in your collection has its own analysis page. Tap Fish species in the row at the top of the journal, open the species and tap See full analysis of …. There you get:
- When do you catch the most, summed up in plain words at the top: for example "In the evening, on a rising tide and in cloudy weather". The summary includes the three factors that stand out most clearly, and only those that actually do. The moon phase is left out here, since it rarely decides whether you catch fish. The full moon phase breakdown is still further down the page.
- Weather and conditions: the weather type, air pressure, temperature and wind that have most often given you the species, and the water temperature.
- Moon phase and solunar: which moon phases your fish were caught in, and what share were caught during a solunar period.
- Time of day and season: which times of day and which months give the most.
- Tides for sea catches: rising or falling tide, or around high and low tide.
- Bait and size: which bait type has produced fish, and the largest and average weight and length. The analysis answers whether spoons or worms are the thing for the species, not which spoon, and catches with bait you entered before the type choice existed are shown as "Other". See Bait.
The cards are in a fixed order, according to what actually decides the fishing: best conditions, weather, tides, time of day, season and size. Moon phase and bait are folded together at the bottom and open with a single tap.
Moon phase, time of day and season are calculated from the catch times and cover your whole journal. Weather, wind, water temperature and tides come from the conditions saved on your catches and sessions. This applies both to trips you logged in real time and to trips you logged afterwards.
Achievements
Under Profile → Achievements you unlock badges as you reach milestones, for example your first catch, a certain number of fish or species, fish above a certain size, or fishing at night or in winter. It is a fun way to see your progress and gives you a little extra to aim for.
A badge you have earned is shown as a stamp printed in a dark color. A badge you have not earned yet is shown as a dashed ring, with text telling you what it takes, and where a number is involved you can see how far you have come.
Achievements are your own. They are not shown on your profile to other users.
