Your profile
Your profile is how you present yourself to others in MinFangst. You open it by tapping the card with your name at the top of Profile at the bottom of the app. You also get there if you tap your own name on a post in the feed.
What is on the profile?
At the top is the profile card with your profile photo, your username and the month you joined. Under your name is the text you have written about yourself, and below that three numbers: how many sessions, catches and species you have logged.
Below the card are the catches you have posted in the public feed yourself, under the heading "Posts from" and your username. If you have not posted anything yet, a sentence says so instead.
Your achievements have their own page under Profile → Achievements, and the species you have caught can be found in the journal and in the statistics.
What do others see?
Others see the same profile, just without the buttons for making changes. It is the same whether they are your friends or not: the profile card with photo, name, the text about you and the three numbers, and the catches you have posted publicly.
The numbers others see are calculated only from what you have actually shared. Entries you have marked private do not count, so if you have many private trips, others see lower numbers than you do yourself. On your own profile you always see your whole journal, including what is private.
The date of your first catch of each species, the number of fish per species and your longest and heaviest fish are never shown to strangers. Your friends can see your longest and heaviest fish on the scoreboard.
Profile photo
Tap your photo at the top of the profile. You can then choose Choose a new photo, and take a new picture with the camera or pick one from your album, or Remove profile photo. If you remove the photo, the first letter of your username is shown there instead. If you have not added a photo yet, the tap goes straight to the photo picker. You can also change your photo under Profile → Settings → Account.
Your profile photo appears next to your name throughout the app: in friend lists, on the scoreboard and in both feeds.
The text about yourself
Under your name you can write one short sentence about your fishing, up to 200 characters. If you have not written anything yet, tap Write something about yourself. If you have written something, tap the text or the pencil next to it. The text then turns into a text field right where it is, and under the field you can see how many characters you have used. Tap Save when you are done.
The text is shown to everyone who can see your profile. Web addresses, domains and email addresses are not allowed, and the text is rejected if it contains offensive language. You can change or remove it at any time.
NOTE
If a profile photo or text does not belong in the app, we may remove it. You will then receive a notification with our reason, and you can appeal under Profile → Privacy and sharing → Decisions about your content. We never rewrite what you have written. Read more under moderation.
Private profile
You decide yourself whether your profile is visible to others. Under Profile → Privacy and sharing you will find the switch Private profile:
- On: Your profile page is hidden from everyone except your friends.
- Off (default): Anyone who knows your username can open your profile page, but never your exact GPS points.
Even with a private profile, someone can add you as a friend if they know your exact username. If you want to stay out of the social side completely, turn off Friends and public feed instead, see When the social features are off. More about the privacy choices is on Privacy and security.
Other people's profiles
You open another angler's profile by tapping their name in the feed, in the friend list or on the scoreboard. If you are not friends, the Add friend button is in the profile card, right under the name. If you are friends, a badge saying Friends is shown there instead.
Behind the three dots at the top right are Remove friend and Block.
If the profile is private and you are not friends, you get a message saying that the profile was not found.
TIP
Following other people is not a feature in MinFangst. If you want to see what someone catches and compete with them, add them as a friend.
